Happy Valentines! 2/2

Sorry if I'm spamming your flists, guys >.<

For the shuukira Valentine's exchange, I got the lovely chibi_zoe ^.^ I drew a fanart for this, but then realised that it probably does not make much sense, and I needed to clarify my train of thought. So this is my horrible attempt at writing a short fanfic that went with the pic. (Wah, where's Harmony when you need her?)

Please note that my writing skills are horrible and I make all manners of spelling, grammatical and punctuation mistakes. This is also not beta'ed. But yeah, the main gift is meant to be the pic, which I hope is marginally better than the fic hehe ^^''

Shuuhei gave a powerful sneeze, then blew his nose loudly into a handkerchief. His head throbbed and he could feel his concentration slipping as he glared at the pile of paperwork in front of him.

This whole week up to Valentine's Day had left him in a foul mood.

For some dreadful reason, the Shinigami Women's Society had decided this year that more people needed encouragement in revealing their hidden feelings to the one they cared about most. The method involved love notes and flowers, employing small groups of shinigami from each division to be couriers and 'spread the love'. One week was dedicated for this absurd activity.

Although it was humorous to see so many of the messengers scampering about, they became somewhat distracting, especially as Shuuhei had found out that he was allergic to the flowers that had been circulating around Seireitei.

When he had discovered mid-week that his constant sneezing was not because he was getting a cold, Shuuhei decided to lock himself up in his office, so that way he could try to recover, and at the same time get all his paperwork done.

However, his allergies did not pass, his stack of paperwork kept getting larger, and - although Shuuhei did not care, of course - he had not received a single Valentine's delivery the entire week. He remembered Abarai receiving a letter on that first day while he went to visit the Sixth Division offices. And during his lunch with Kira on the fourth day, they were interrupted constantly by delivery after delivery of colourful flowers, all to the Third Division Lieutenant. Shuuhei had found that a strange jealousy was rising within him, but before he could make any comment, he found himself in the middle of a sneezing fit.

After another sneeze tore through him, Shuuhei gave a loud groan, pushing his paperwork aside and resting his head in his hands.

At least it was late afternoon, he only needed to endure the rest of the night, then Valentine's would be over and things could go back to normal.

A loud knock gave Shuuhei a startle and he jerked his head up to look at the door.

"Delivery!" the person on the other side called cheerfully.

A delivery? For him? Shuuhei was torn between excitement and fear - what if someone had sent him one of those devil flowers?

He walked up to the office door and swung it open.

On the other side was Kira with a shy grin on his face, and a gigantic bouquet of ... chocolate roses? Shuuhei was speechless, and Kira chuckled merrily at his surprise.

"Happy Valentine's, Hisagi-san," Kira said softly.

Shuuhei was filled with a comforting warmth. Kira was always thoughtful, always caring, and he understood Shuuhei in a way that no one else did. His headache gone, Shuuhei gave a goofy grin before stepping aside to let Kira into the room.

Shuuhei decided that this was the best Valentine's Day ever.
